How long each coating is rated to last

CS-II rates B268 for 1 year per layer, CS-II Ceramic for 3 years, CS-II Titanium for 5+ years, and Titanium Self Heal for 3 years per layer. Those are the manufacturer's ratings, and how your car is parked and washed decides where in that range it lands.

Titanium Self Heal adds the self-healing feature. CS-II says light marring reflows at 110 to 150 degrees F, which a Las Vegas summer handles on its own. More on heat in how long ceramic coating lasts in Las Vegas heat.

Does ceramic coating cost extra for paint correction?

Sometimes. A coating locks in whatever is on the paint, swirls included, so the paint has to be right first. Prep is its own line on our price list. Depending on what we find, one of these comes before the coating:

  • Level 1 Coating Prep Brand New, $210 to $240. For cars with 3,000 miles or less: wash, iron remover, clay, blow-dry and jambs, with no polishing.
  • Single Step Paint Correction, $400 to $480. A light polish before coating.
  • 2 Step Paint Correction, $950 to $1,150. A compound and polish for moderate to severe paint defects.

We tell you which one your paint needs once we see it. More on correction pricing in our paint correction cost guide.

Sample totals

These are examples built from our price list. Your total depends on what the paint needs.

  • New sedan, under 3,000 miles, CS-II Ceramic: $220 prep + $900 coating = $1,120
  • Three-year-old midsize SUV with sun swirls, Single Step + CS-II Ceramic: $450 + $1,100 = $1,550
  • Black 4 door truck with heavy swirls, 2 Step + CS-II Titanium: $1,050 + $1,600 = $2,650

Why ceramic quotes differ so much between shops

When you compare quotes, ask which coating it is by name, how many layers, and whether prep is in the price or extra. A coating over swirls seals them in, so prep matters as much as the coating.

Is ceramic coating worth it in the Las Vegas heat?
