Care and maintenance
Regular hand washing with soap and water is absolutely fine, and is the best thing you can do for a coated car.
Washing
- Touch-less car washes only. Never use a car wash with brushes.
- Avoid high-volume brush style washes and high-pH detergent cleaners.
- Avoid washing in direct sunlight to minimize streaking and water spotting.
- Wash from the top down, leaving the dirtiest sections for last to avoid cross contamination. Use separate wash buckets when necessary.
- Never use aggressive products to polish the coating or remove surface contamination.
Spot removal
Bird droppings, tar and sap should be removed as soon as possible to avoid temporary staining or hardening on the coating. Any staining left behind from bird droppings will break down over a few days without affecting the coating.
Care and maintenance
Cleaning
- Touch-less car washes only. Never use a car wash with brushes, and never select the “spray wax” option.
- We do not recommend pressure washers or car washes using handheld pressure washers. If one is used, tell the employees the car has paint protection film.
- To avoid lifting the film, keep the pressure washer nozzle at least 45cm (1.5ft) from the film surface.
- Wax glossy LEGEND Prime with a non-abrasive car wax at minimum twice per year. For LEGEND Prime Matte, use only waxes recommended for matte surfaces.
- Use isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber wipe along the edges to remove dirt and excess wax.
Removing bugs
Insects can be removed with regular car shampoo and a sponge, or a bug and tar removing shampoo. In difficult cases, soaking the surface for 15 to 20 minutes with bug removing shampoo may be needed. Clean bird droppings, bugs and visible contaminants regularly to avoid film staining.
